Here in sunny So Cal we don't get any local snow, so an outdoor ice rink is unheard of. But here at the local outdoor mall a skating rink went up. Instead of ice it is a plastic material that more or less allows you to skate like ice- and fall like ice without the wet butt! So we took Sean and Brendan out and had a great time watching the learn how to skate.
And in the theme of faking a winter wonderland a few weeks ago we attended a winter festival down Main Street. There was snow blowing from the tress. From a distance it looked so magical. 
And up close, it looked like bubbles!

If you want you could just come here and skate on our roads they seem pretty icy.
